On Thursday evening, 6 April our new look 5k Road Race will kick off at 8pm! Excitement is building, as this extract from a recent Irish Examiner article, shows – ,
” Youghal’s Emer Casey Foundation Run and walk will take a new course this year with the annual fundraiser switching to a 5km night run in April. The run, which has attracted hundreds of participants from across the country, will also move to a flat, 2.5 laps of the town centre. All proceeds will be dedicated to the Emer Casey Foundation, which was founded in 2006 following the death of Emer from ovarian cancer in 2005, aged 27. The youngest of five girls, born to retired garda Brendan Casey and his wife Juliette, Emer was a vivacious, sports-loving, legal practitioner whose death struck a deep chord in the local community and beyond. (…) This year’s run on April 6 “kickstarts the local running season”, says Emer’s sister and Glanmire Community School teacher, Susan. Registration takes place at Youghal Community Centre, North Main Street, from where the run departs at 8pm. Entry is 10 euro, with prizes for the top three men and women as well as team, category and spot prizes.”
For those travelling to Youghal for the event, the Quality Hotel in Youghal are offering an overnight rate in a two bedroom apartment suite of 79 euro plus a discounted breakfast rate of 10 euro per adult.
We hope to see you in Youghal on the 6th April!
